Construction of 267km of distribution lines in HDPE sizes ranging from OD 63mm to OD 280mm, Construction of elevated Pressed Tanks of combined capacity 550m3 at various locations within the supply area, Construction of Ground Storage Tanks of combined capacity of 1,000m3 at various supply areas, Construction of 10 No. 5-door VIP Latrines in schools, Supply and installation of 5,000 consumer connections., Supply and delivery of Operational Tools and equipment, Supply of 1 No. Exhauster, Supply of 1 No. Water Bowser, Training and Capacity Building.
Impacts
There will be reduction in waterborne diseases due to access to clean water leading to better overall health and reduced healthcare costs. There will be increased school attendance especially for girls as they spend less time collecting water. Access to clean water will increase productivity in the workforce, leading to improved livelihoods and economic growth, women and girls often bear the burden of collecting water, so improved water access will empower them and provide more time for other activities
Remarks
Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Program Phase II,Under OFID Funding for LMC Phase I ( KES 699Million) and National Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Program Phase II for LMC Phase II (KES 830Million) KES50Million available for utilization (uncommitted funds) under Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program.The agency has prioritized the uncommitted funds to execute minimal LMC to serve Kobos,Kolongolo,Kiptuimet,Nasianda and Duka Moja areas.Project is currently under procurement via CRWWDA as the implementing agency.
