Scope of Works
Construction of a new gravity main DN 160 in HDPE to Kimurio approximately 3km long, Construction of a 50m3 masonry tank at Kimurio, Construction of a 25m3 tank at Kaimugul, Construction of 2No. Break Pressure Tanks, Construction of the following extensionlines: i. Kipsikirok – Cheptonon Primary, DN 50 mm, approximately 8Km, ii. Chepyuk – Kibumet area, DN 50 mm, approximately 3Km, iii. Extension to Kibira, DN 25 mm, approximately 750m, iv.Extension to Sokomoko, DN 25 mm, approximately 200m, v. Extension to Chebich, DN 32 mm approximately 200m, vi. Kimurio tank – Kimurio primary, DN 50 mm, approximately 2km Rehabilitation of:i. Intake Weir and its accessories on R. Kimurio, ii. Existing Kapkongtank (150m3 Masonry) and its accessories, iii. All existing lines and their appurtenances approximately 20km, iv. Construction of 4No.Water Kiosks
Impacts
Reduction in waterborne diseases due to access to clean water and improved sanitation, leading to better overall health and reduced healthcare costs. Increased school attendance especially for girls as they spend less time collecting water and managing sanitation needs. Access to clean water and sanitation will increase productivity in the workforce, leading to improved livelihoods and economic growth, women and girls often bear the burden of collecting water, so improved water access will empower them and provide more time for other activities
Key Challenges
Project stalled at 90% completion. Pending works include: Rehabilitation of damaged/Vandalized pipelines and Last Mile Connectivity
